Welcome to the Contemporary Issues Wiki!

Welcome to the Contemporary Issues Wiki! This class is about the free exchange of ideas and discussion based on events as they unfold around us. While our time in class will provide us with the opportunity to present and analyze topics in significant depth, my hope is that this page will serve as a spark for many of those conversations.

As members of this site, you have as much control as to the content and direction of our conversation. Make note of the way each section of the page is designed:
  • Each of you will be responsible for selecting articles for our analysis and discussion. The title of those articles is to be posted under the heading "TIME for Homework."
  • As you monitor the news, you may come across an article, editorial, or commentary that is so pressing that you feel everyone in class must read it. Share what you have found and questions you have on The Situation.
  • As you prepare for our debates, post the resources you have researched under the appropriate topic in "Debates"

Check the Discussion tab at the top of the page to reflect on the articles that have been selected as homework. Be sure that your comments are both appropriate for school and are connected to the prompt presented. Your comments will be evaluated based on their depth of thought, originality, and their connection to the text as well as your classmate's contributions.

Lastly, this is a closed page, open only to the members of this class. As we have discussed in class, please remember that open dialogue can only be achieved when we respect and trust those who will be reading our ideas. Treat all who participate on this page with the utmost respect
